I can’t take credit for finding this one, but if you want to have your head exploded by amazing sound and showmanship (and you like strings), then go watch the group named Barrage. Unfortunately, I’m not that familiar with the group, myself, but if anyone EVER finds out that they’re performing in the Chicago area please let me know. I like most of their music I’ve heard, but some of it is a little too river-dancy-happy for me. Even still, this one is awesome, and I still want to go see them.

My Birthday Present

Whelp, after much deliberation and procrastination, I’ve finally decided on and purchased a new receiver for my sweet new surround sound system! For my birthday (in August), my friends pitched in and got me a rather large gift certificate from Amazon to aid me in my purchase. I have to say, it was a lot of fun seeing a fairly expensive item have an extremely low price once I applied the gift card code. Long story short, thanks, friends.

My Pioneer VSX 1120 7.1 Home Theater Receiver will be arriving soon. I’ll be interested to find out more about the advertised “PC-Control” feature, and I’m sure it will pair nicely with my Kef speakers. In related news, I’ve also recently purchased a MIDI interface for my Yamaha clavinova. Music composition will be occurring soon, and snail mail just became more interesting. I will also undoubtedly be annoying my neighbors a lot. One can only hope.

Easy Mode

Though I pretty much hate the rest of the content on (I even hated it when I was in college), this one is pretty good.

If only life had easy mode. I know, that was pretty emo.

Free Crappy Portraits

The brainchild of a good friend of mine (the artist formally known as RJ), delivers where other crappy portrait sites fall short. FCP is updated sometimes daily, and has a substantial following of mostly happy customers. Just check out the testimonials section on their site, and remember to send your pictures to I know I will.

Flash Games Are Fun!

And it’s even more fun to make them.

I’ve been wanting to make games since I was a kid, but now I’m finally old/skilled enough to be able to do just that. After months of discussion and brainstorming with a friend of mine, and a brilliant coworker’s idea of having Code Bashes after work, the three of us finally became motivated enough to try our hand at making a Flash game. It seems fitting, as I’m sure you’ve noticed that many of the great indie developers of today got their start doing Flash games. Plus, we each have years of experience coding in ActionScript from work. We can easily be as awesome as those other game development peoples.

We’re being slightly secretive about certain aspects of the game, and much of the design is still to be determined. In other words, don’t be TOO impressed with its epicness, because there’s much more to come. I’ll attempt to keep new features and updates posted here. Currently the game is codenamed “Blue Cheese Fries” for some particular reason I don’t feel like explaining at the moment.
