Similar to Notch, lately I’ve hand a pretty hard time motivating myself to blog. This is pretty much just my obligatory post so I have an entry for the month. Enjoy.

Success

So XKCD is one of the best things ever. I recently downloaded an XKCD iPhone application for my iPod, and I’ve officially read through every single comic. Sometimes they’re hilarious. Sometimes they’re insightful. Sometimes they’re random drawings. Sometimes they’re too nerdy for even me. If you didn’t know it, there’s more to the comic if you check the tooltip. (Hover your mouse over the image if you don’t know what I’m talking about.)

Comic #874 (Time Management) struck a chord with me. The tooltip essentially reads, “never trust anyone who’s more excited about success than about doing the thing they want to be successful at.” Perhaps this is why I have a hard time diving into my personal money-making schemes.

Oh well. Thought I’d share.

I recently checked the status of my blog and realized that hits have shot up considerably! Not only am I getting visits, but people are actually leaving comments! Rather than going through and approving all of them, I decided to pick out a few that really meant a lot to me, and actually write a post about them. So here goes…

Thanks for the compliment, Mr. Guitarra. It’s good to be liked. As you say, I’ll always keep maintaining it up, and I certainly agree with your thoughts on Lady Gaga. She’s one interesting dude. I think that’s one point of view most men and women can get behind.

Zom-Bees Update

Good news people, we have our domain reserved, so we can officially unveil the working title of our Flash game: Zom-Bees. (All rights reserved, patent pending, sorta.) From now on, we’ll be posting updates to the game at zom-bees.com.

We made the slightest bit of progress on our game recently. Here’s what happened:

  1. Added the ability to play music.
  2. Added the ability to play sound effects.
  3. Fixed bugs with collision detection.
  4. Made it so launching projectiles uses skill points.
  5. Added collision detection with enemy sprites.
  6. Colliding with enemy sprites reduces health.

If only we had Minecraft’s investment money. Oh well, progress is progress.

Yoko Kanno

So many years wasted! Why didn’t anyone tell me?! Yoko Kanno is amazing, and she’s particularly amazing when paired up with Origa. Go read about them… NOW.

In conclusion, she’s responsible for “Tank!“, the Cowboy Bebop theme as well as Ghost in the Shell music. She also has several albums on iTunes. I recommend them (if you can put up with a little J-Pop). Her albums are a smattering of different music genres and styles, which is bragable.
